101 Scholar: National and Local Scholarships Awarded

Since 2017, Class 101 has proudly sponsored the 101 Scholars Program, offering students nationwide the opportunity to compete for four $3,000 scholarships. Additionally, Class 101- Lexington awards a $1,000 scholarship. On June 4th, we celebrated our 2024 Class 101 Scholars. Mallory Jones, a junior at George Rogers Clark High School, received the Class 101-Lexington local scholarship, while Joby Mitmesser, a senior at George Rogers Clark High School was awarded a Class 101 National Scholarship. We are immensely proud of both of these students.

Selection Criteria

Students are chosen on the following criteria:

  • 10% how they are achieving academically
  • 30% extent to which they demonstrate leadership
  • 60% degree to which they are making a difference in the community

Both Mallory and Joby have both significantly impacted their communities through initiatives that they founded.

Meet the Scholars

Mallory Jones

Mallory founded “Be Smart. Love Your Heart! “ – a community service initiative dedicated to the education and awareness of heart disease. This initiative supports cardiac-related organizations, charities, causes, and events. Mallory has advocated at the state level for policies to promote heart health. She will apply to college in the fall and has not yet made her college choice.

Joby Mitmesser

Joby is the founder of an organization called the Bedheads, a community service initiative that works to supply beds to students in his community who lack a proper place to sleep. To date, Bedheads has raised $65,000 and placed 250 beds in students’ homes. Joby will attend Centre College, and he has ensured Bedheads will continue to thrive through a capable leadership team he has established.

A Message from the Founder

“It was always my goal as the founder of Class 101 to be able to support our students not only with the college planning support that we provide to students and families, but to also help financially in the form of academic scholarships.” said Tom Pabin.  “It’s rewarding to see this program grow and flourish nationwide. Joby and Mallory exemplify the remarkable achievements our students can accomplish.”

Class 101-Lexington looks forward to continuing to support and celebrate the outstanding efforts of all of our students.
