School supply drive runs through August 2
A group of Class 101 student leaders launched a community service group in June, 2024 to provide meaningful opportunities for high school students from different high schools to engage in community service. The group is called More Than One to illustrate the importance of connecting to others through community service.
At the first leadership meeting, students made more than 20 teddy bears. These bears were donated to SAFE on Main in Lebanon. SAFE on Main provides comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, including children.
In July, a group of students gathered to spread mulch and clean up a playground area at Warren County’s Armco Park. More Than One also launched a school supply drive that runs from now through August 2. These supplies will be donated in two ways: to two elementary classrooms where students will volunteer to help the teacher set up the room for students and to Family Promise of Warren County.
Supplies requested are: tissues, paper towels, wide-ruled paper and notebooks, construction paper, glue sticks, pencils, index cards, crayons, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, and dry erase markers. To donate, drop off school supplies at Class 101, 36 South Richards Run in Springboro.
As the group continues into the school year, students will plan themed service projects for each month. Upcoming projects include a book drive for early readers and a voter registration event for new voters.
