High school should be a time of making memories and feeling confident in the future. However, for many families, there are so many unknowns as well as stressors that creep in when working through the numerous steps of preparing for college. Finding the perfect college, completing SAT prep, meeting the numerous deadlines and essays for applications, knowing how to navigate FAFSA, and locating scholarships are just a handful of these stressors. I was lucky enough to have Class 101 take that pressure off of my shoulders so that my daughter and I could enjoy more of the process together as she made those big decisions.
My daughter knew what degree she wanted to pursue, but was unsure of what university she wanted to attend. Numerous meetings were spent on virtual college visits to hone in on what was important to her in a college. I can’t stress enough how important going on college visits is, not just doing the virtual visits. Her decision was made when she felt at home at one of the universities. She did not have the feeling at the other colleges that she visited.
Class 101 helped us narrow down the list according to her interests and what she wanted in a
college. She has just finished her first nine weeks as a college student and is excelling in all aspects. I was so impressed with the individual attention that Class 101 gave my daughter that I
decided to join the team myself. As a previous teacher and current principal, I have missed the student interaction as I don’t have my own classroom anymore. As a college advisor, I love the one-on-one collaboration with high school students as well as the teaching that goes into Class 101 for test prep.
Meeting with students on an individual basis allows us to truly get to know the students and understand what they and their parents are hoping for in the future. Guidance counselors at high schools do their best, but are overloaded with hundreds of students. At Class 101, while we work with multiple students, we have a team supporting and guiding us so that we help each individual student accomplish his/her goals. Depending on their grade level, weekly or monthly individual meetings are held with each student. We even offer High School Prep for current eighth graders, so that they have the best start when they become freshmen.
At certain times throughout the process, parents attend the meetings as well to make sure
that we are all maximizing our time and resources to best match what they want to achieve. Constant communication is sent to the student and parents so that everyone is part of the decision-making process.
I would love to help take the pressure off of your family so you can enjoy the journey together. I work at both the Plainfield and Bloomington offices.
Please let me know how I can help partner with you and your student!

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, the SAT. The average student and parent we work with views the test as simply a practice test or maybe doesn’t think much of it at all. For some students, we know this can be a costly mistake. The exam holds significant importance, […]
