School Spotlight
Part of our work as college advisors is to know about the many college and university options available for our students across the country and even internationally. We travel to tour college campuses throughout the year and maintain relationships with admissions offices that we’ve built over time. Our goal is to be as informed as possible about these options and what makes schools unique so we can share these opportunities with our Class 101 students.
I recently traveled to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida for the XP League’s US Nationals (Gaming) and had the opportunity to tour campus. I found their degrees and approach to college education unique and innovative and wanted to share this broadly with our families.
About Full Sail University
Full Sail University has evolved to serve the entertainment media and emerging technologies industries. Students interested in innovative and creative programs can find majors in the following areas either on campus or online:

Expedited Programs
Full Sail University offers expedited college programs at a faster pace than traditional schools so that students adapt to the 24/7 nature of their industries. Full Sail’s programs take, on average, about half the time of a comparable degree at a traditional university. Students start when they are ready to begin and take 2 classes per month. This allows students to graduate in a shorter period of time so they can start their careers earlier and potentially save on college tuition and room and board costs.
For students seeking a less traditional and lengthy college experience, I think these programs could be a good fit.
Different Approach
Full Sail prides itself on taking a different approach to college. From the actual workspace for students to the schedule and student projects, they have designed their curriculum to be more reflective of what students will find when they enter the workforce.
A large part of student work is real-world experience. Student work is hands-on and project-based, so they work together in teams and professional environments to experience what their industry will be like before they enter it. Working directly with professional hardware and software in the industry gives them the experience and preparation that lead to placement after graduation.

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, the SAT. The average student and parent we work with views the test as simply a practice test or maybe doesn’t think much of it at all. For some students, we know this can be a costly mistake. The exam holds significant importance, […]

High school is a time of growth, exploration, and preparation for the future.
