From Parent to Advisor: A Class 101 Review

Invaluable. That is how I describe Class 101 for our family. I just graduated my first senior from high school and having Class 101 by our side made the whole college application process seamless. So seamless that I barely even knew it was happening.

While I have no doubt I could have walked my son through the process, I am positive that we would have argued, missed out on scholarship opportunities, and not enjoyed each other’s company during his last year at home. He raised his score with their SAT prep classes, wrote his college essays and applied for all of his colleges and scholarships and I didn’t have to worry about it all. It removed a complete layer of stress from me and for him as well. He knew he had someone in his corner with the knowledge and experience that would keep him on task and not let anything fall through the cracks.

I now have a rising sophomore in Class 101 who started here as a freshman. They look at schools and majors, talk about grades and test scores needed to achieve his goals so he can stay focused, and build his resume. He is already taking SAT/ACT practice tests to get ahead. Looking in from the outside, seeing how confident my own kids were feeling, and my love for helping high school students as well, I knew Class 101 would be a great fit for me to work with. As a Class 101 College Advisor, I am now sitting alongside students, cheering them on, helping them prepare for their future, and relieving some stress off of their parents, just like it was done for me. Whether it be helping a rising senior with their essays or even a freshman or sophomore figure out what school they want to apply to and making sure they are getting in their activities and keeping up their grades, we are right there with them, every step of the
way.

The Underestimated PSAT

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, the SAT. The average student and parent we work with views the test as simply a practice test or maybe doesn’t think much of it at all. For some students, we know this can be a costly mistake. The exam holds significant importance, […]
