Preparing Middle Schoolers for High School Success

In the blink of an eye, the middle school years transition into the next chapter of academic adventure – high school. As parents and middle school students prepare for this pivotal leap, there’s a collective recognition that the bridge from middle school to high school is a critical one.

In our business, we talk to parents who, looking back, wish their child would have had a stronger start to high school. But how can you ensure your child has the needed skills and understands the importance of kicking off high school with a strong Freshman year? And even if you knew how to coach them, would they listen to you, their parent? As parents to three grown children myself, I would venture to say I would not have had much luck back then.

After hearing your questions and need for help, we created a new course dedicated to navigating the journey of preparing middle school students for success in the exciting yet challenging realm of high school: High School Prep 101. From academic readiness to social navigation, and organizational skills to study skills, we’ll explore the essential elements that form a sturdy foundation for not only surviving but thriving in the transformative high school years that lie ahead.

Essential Skills for Middle School Students
We created this course after years of working with high school students in their early years and identifying critical skill sets that genuinely helped students find success. We want to work with middle schoolers to share ways to approach the transitions with specific tactics, spread out over six one-hour sessions:

● Mindful Minds: How to manage your mind to perform at its best
● Optimized Organizer: Strategies to help you manage time, tasks, and tests
● Confident Communicator: Tips for talking to teachers, peers, and adults
● Goal-Getter: Tips on how to set goals and develop the perseverance to see them come to life
● Brainy Breakthroughs: How to develop skills to better solve problems
● Study Skills: Preparing students with the skills they need to be better learners and achievers.

If you are looking for a way to give your middle school student the tools needed to transition into high school and navigate it with ease, we would love to help. Let’s embark on this journey together, unlocking insights and strategies to ensure that the transition to high school is a seamless and empowering experience for our budding scholars.
