As the school year draws to an end, most high school students, particularly rising seniors, are running out the doors and towards the pools as fast as they can! And while summertime is often the time for a well-deserved break from school, it is also the time to put in motion the steps it takes to apply to college.
Juniors in high school should be aware that the Common Application opens on August 1st! They need to have all of their ducks in a row by then! Have they taken their ACT or SAT tests? Have they already completed their main essay and visited some of the colleges on their list? These are questions that students (and parents) need to answer, and fast! But don’t be discouraged if these items haven’t been crossed off that to-do list yet! Class 101 is offering a variety of summer fun opportunities that also serve to provide valuable additions to the student application!
Here are of some of the summer activities offered at Class 101!
ACT and SAT prep classes
The two main summer dates for testing are as follows: ACT test on June 10, and SAT test on June 3. However, there is second SAT summer test date on August 26, 2017! If students weren’t pleased with their spring scores they have the opportunity to take the prep class, learn Class 101’s 40 tips, identify their trends for improvement, and knock the August test out of the park!
Essay Workshops
The Common App is a single college application that students complete, and is conveniently used by almost 700 colleges! The essay prompts for the application were released in February, but with spring break, end of the year assignments, and AP testing it’s hard for students to make time to write, edit, and rewrite college essays. Class 101’s college planners will help their students brainstorm, edit, and revise all of their essays. Class 101 college planners have helped thousands of students with the entire college planning and application process and they know what admission officers look for in student essays!
College Trips
College visits are an important part of the college planning process, as students need to know what factors draw them toward certain schools. Do they want a big city feel or a small college town? Do they want to live near home or further away? Public or private? All of these questions are important considerations for a student to keep in mind when visiting and choosing colleges to which to apply.
Class 101 is taking TWO summer college visitation trips this year, and trips are open to ALL students, not just Class 101 clients. The trips are a fun way for students to experience multiple colleges in only a few days, and busy parents get peace of mind knowing that their child IS getting those college visits under their belts! Students get to travel with college planners from Class 101 as well as other students! The trips include campus visits, hotel accommodations, insurance, and transportation! The two trips are listed below, and more information can be found on the website or by calling your local Class 101 office, but hurry-space is limited!
